It is only moments since the young girl Regan Theresa MacNeil interrupted the party, addressing Captain Billy Cutshaw directly: “You’re gonna die up there”. After which she peed obliviously on the carpet, right there in the bourgeois Washington residence. Now the astronaut Billy Cutshaw - who first appeared in The Exorcist (1973) prior to a space mission, and later reappeared, as committed mental patient due to his refusal to travel to the moon, in The Ninth Configuration (1980) – is driving through the dark streets of Washington DC. During his drive, from the exact address of the original party, across Capitol Hill into the ghettoized neighborhood of Anacostia, and from one Hollywood fiction to the next, Billy Cutshaw will meet his future self, who will convince him not to go to the moon.
